About Us

dreamthinkspeak was founded by Artistic Director Tristan Sharps in November 1999 and is based in Brighton.

The company aims to explore the use of space, light, image, film, sound and text as equal ingredients in creating live performance and to explore how the use of different environments can radically alter the relationship of the audience to the work. They work in both conventional and unconventional theatrical settings in creating works that are in constant evolution.

Each production is re-created and re-designed afresh for different sites that have their own stories, echoes and architectural features, affecting the form and content of the work. The company is committed to creating theatre that is challenging but accessible, which seeks to engage an audience in a theatrical journey and create an environment for them to inhabit.

The company’s work has no specific format, but is a journey through a variety of forms. We do site-responsive and theatre-based pieces. No two pieces are the same. Nevertheless there are certain aspects that underpin all our productions. The highly visual dreamlike nature of our work takes form through a variety of media including live performance, film, sound and modelled landscapes. These elements are always closely connected both thematically and visually and allow us to explore the rich seam of dream and sub-conscious that exists beneath the narrative surface.
